Reviews
Vintage 2017
“.. A very expressive bouquet, with cherry blossom and spicy aromas, the medium-bodied palate picking up the story without blinking with its layers of seductive red and purple fruits..” James Halliday
“Hints of char and meat juices, black fruit and dusky violets. Smooth, silken slip of a palate, black fruits adds to the sense of gloss and sheen. Tannin is minor, the wine conveying a sense of freshness. Fruit presence is generous, length in spades.” Stuart Robinson, Vinsomniac
“This is a wine that’s excels showing both regionality and varietal attributes. Deep purple red with complex aromas of dark berries, spearmint, cedar cigar box, leather, spice and smoky oak. The palate delivers all the nose promises and more. Vanilla oak, dark fruits, pepper spice at front along with greenish but smooth tannin. All this gives a smooth complex mouthfeel along with the textual feeling from the 2% Viognier in this wine. Value for only $35 RRP enjoy now or in the future with careful cellaring.” – Stephen Read, Wine Matrix
“Lovely aromas of Black Doris plum, sweet raspberry, dried herb and olive on the nose, and the palate is succulent, plump and flavoursome with fine texture and silky tannins, finishing long and delectable. Beautifully harmonious and immediately appealing. At its best: now to 2027. ” – Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
Vintage 2016
“… the usual shower of Gold Medals… remarkable consistency.. supple, fresh mouthfeel and varietal purity… beautifully made.. from a high quality region.” Halliday Wine Companion
“Delightfully composed and instantly appealing, the inviting bouquet shows dark plum, blackberry, clove, truffle and toasted hazelnut characters. The palate is beautifully weighted and generously fruited, offering fine texture and fleshy mouthfeel, wonderfully supported by silky tannins. The wine is flavoursome and intense, while remaining elegant and structured.” – Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
Vintage 2015
“The bouquet is very expressive, bordering on floral, with nuances of sandalwood and fresh leather underneath; the palate has an incisive, fresh mouthfeel to the display of cherry and plum fruits, here with forest notes in the background. It has excellent length, yet achieves all this with a lightness of touch.” – James Halliday Wine Companion
Vintage 2014
“High quality shiraz, with everything just where it should be, and sending all the right messages. The firm blackberry and plum fruit carries the oak with nonchalance, and welcomes the textural support from the ripe tannins. Length. Balance. From the right side of the tracks.” – James Halliday
Vintage 2013
“More open-knit than its sibling, with spice, pepper and licorice to the fore, but no shortage of black cherry and blackberry fruit; very good tannin and oak support.” – James Halliday
Vintage 2012
“… A fragrant bouquet and light to medium-bodied palate, red fruits and spices to the fore; good length and balance, the tannins fine and supple.” – James Halliday
