Technical & Tasting Notes
VITICULTURE
60% Grenache was hand selected from our 0.5ha block (20.2) and the Shiraz component (40%) came from part of our old vine block 4 (1.05ha).
WINE MAKING
The individual fruit parcels were cold soaked then co-fermented with minimal winemaker influence.
TASTING NOTES
A bouquet of raspberry, bramble, spice and floral notes. Medium bodied with a plush mouthful of seamless red berries, spice and wild raspberry notes. The flavours are exquisite and the blend shows real finesse.
Reviews
Vintage 2018
“.. light but characterful. Licorice, leather, cherry and dry spice notes put on a persuasive show.. its inherent meaty/savouriness just gives it that extra something.” Halliday Wine Companion
“..Raspberry in the primary, hints of untamed strawberry dominating – the Grenache, unmistakeable. It is medium bodied, the depth of fruit alluding to the contribution of the Shiraz. Riven with spice: black pepper, clove and a suggestion of anise. Concludes on a savoury line, at stark odds to the prime fruit presence that got here earlier than it..” Stuart Robinson, Vinsomniac
“..complex aromas of red fruits, some savoury tones, a hint of confectionary and subtle spice all evident. While the palate delivers soft tannins, a hint of pepper spice at the front. Red fruits are found in layers and balanced by clean acid.. A complex medium bodied wine, enjoy now or cellar for 4+ years.” Stephen Read, Wine Matrix
“Pristine and beautifully lifted, the wine shows sweet raspberry, blueberry, floral and olive characters on the nose.. up front and delectable with plenty of tasty fruit flavours and spicy nuances, elegantly framed by refined tannins. At its best: now to 2026.” Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
“.. juicy raspberry.. briar, spearmint.. savoury oak characters and the finish peppery tannins.” John Lewis, Newcastle Herald
